Frequently asked questions

The things people ask us most about our Mexican folk art, shipping and wholesale. Can't find your answer? Write to us.

Where and how are Artefashion Mexico pieces made?

All our pieces are handmade by artisans from all across Mexico, using traditional techniques: cut and embossed tin, carved wood, molded ceramic and hand painting. We don't use industrial molds; that's why no two pieces are alike.

What is a tin sacred heart?

It's the most iconic piece of Mexican folk art: a metal-sheet heart cut and decorated by hand, often with wings, rays, flowers, a mirror or milagritos. It's hung on the wall as a symbol of love, faith and protection for the home.

What are milagros or milagritos?

They are small metal charms shaped like a heart, hand, eye, animal or body part. In Mexican tradition they are offered in gratitude for a favor received. On our pieces they decorate hearts, crosses and niches.

Why does my piece look a little different from the photo?

Because each one is painted and assembled by hand. Small variations in color, size or finish are normal and part of the value of a handmade piece; they are not considered a defect.

Do you ship to the United States and other countries?

Yes. Shipping within the United States takes 5 to 10 business days and is free on orders of $35 USD or more. International shipping takes 10 to 21 business days. The exact cost is shown before you pay.

Do you accept returns?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery if the piece arrived damaged or doesn't match what you ordered. Write to us with photos of the product and the packaging and we'll help with a replacement or refund.

Do you sell wholesale to stores?

Yes. We have wholesale pricing for orders from $500 USD. Switch to Wholesale mode on the site to see the prices, or reach out from the Wholesale page.

Where else can I buy Artefashion Mexico?

Besides this site, we sell the same pieces in our Etsy shop (ArtefashionMexico) and on eBay (artefashionmexico). The inventory is the same in all three places.

How do I care for a tin or wood piece?

Clean it with a dry or barely damp cloth, without abrasive products. Avoid constant humidity and long periods of direct sun to preserve the colors. The pieces are for indoors or covered outdoor spaces.

Can I order a color or size I don't see on the site?

Often, yes. Write to us from the Contact page with the piece and color you're looking for and we'll tell you if it's available or how long it takes to make.
